In-Person Proctoring Locations: Required & Prohibited Materials for Every Appointment
Please Be Aware: Academic Integrity and Professional Conduct Standards apply for all exam appointments.
- Any materials authorized for use by your instructor, as stated in UNC Online. Your proctor will also have your instructor's authorized materials available.
- Students must present a valid/legible photo ID before each appointment.
- No hats. No hoods. (Exceptions for religious observance)
- In-Person Proctoring Locations: Personal laptops are NOT permitted during exam appointments (unless otherwise stated in exam instructions, and then, only, if the proctor can provide CLOSE AND CONSTANT EXAM SUPERVISION, per their UNCO proctor license). NOTE: Libraries are prohibited from allowing students to use their personal laptop to take an exam, under any circumstances, because libraries cannot provide close and constant exam supervision.
- Electronic devices are NOT permitted during exam appointments. No cell phones, smart watches, headphones, etc. Cell phones may not be used as calculators or as a method of accessing e-books. Students must leave cell phones at home, in a locked car, or in the care of the proctor.
- E-Books: Students may access a digital version of the course's textbook(s) through a web browser, solely on the same device used to access the exam. To be clear, this means students cannot use their cell phone to access the E-Book nor are students allowed to use a separate computer.

- Students are required to take their exam in a private location (e.g., bedroom with closed door, an office with a closed door, a private room with a closed door in a library). Students are prohibited from taking their exam in a public location (e.g., coffee shop, in a open space at a library, restaurant).
- Any materials authorized for use by your instructor, as stated in UNC Online. Your proctor will also have your instructor's authorized materials available.
- Students must present a valid/legible photo ID before each appointment.
- No hats. No hoods. (Exceptions for religious observance)
- Using a reflective device, such as a cell phone or mirror, students must show their monitor/computer and space in front of them, to ensure notes are not attached.
- WebCam Proctor (Examity) Appointments: Students can use their laptop.
- Students must open either Task Manager or Force Quit any virtual machine application(s) to show that no other applications are running on the student's computer.
