Why is a student unable to select me as a proctor?
A student may contact you, indicating your proctoring license is grayed out and they cannot select you to proctor their exam. Ask the student to "mouse over" the grayed out area to view the reason why.
There are 3 common reasons why proctors are grayed out: (1) you cannot provide close and constant exam proctoring, (2) your exam scheduling lead time, and/or (3) you do not have availability/capacity.
Close and Constant Exam Proctoring
Some faculty require their exams to be monitored closely. This feature is called "Close and Constant" supervision..
Your license may not provide this level of exam proctoring supervision (e.g., As a matter of policy, UNC Online Exam Proctoring does not allow public libraries to offer this service. This policy is in place because we understand a public library's main responsibility is to its patrons. Therefore, they are not able to monitor a student taking an exam from beginning to end.)
Exam Scheduling Lead Time
Your proctoring license may require exam appointments to be scheduled a certain number of days in advance.
NOTE: If you have a lead time set up and you would like to accommodate the exam appointment then you need to override the lead time. You can do this by going to the "Lead Time Override" tab (click here to learn more about lead time overrides).
No Availability And/Or Capacity
Your proctoring license may not have any availability and/or capacity during the student's exam window.
If you would like to accommodate the student then you need to increase your availability and/or capacity. You can do this by going to the "Settings" tab (click here to learn more about adjusting your availability and capacity).
NOTE: In some exam appointment situations, you may need to adjust both your scheduling lead time and availability/capacity for some students.
