How to Find a Proctor Outside of the U.S.
If there are no UNC Online approved exam proctors in your area, please do one of the following:
If your exam is online (not paper or online+paper) and if you have a stable, high speed internet connection then you can select the "Take Your Exam Via WebCam Proctor (Examity)." Using this option will eliminate the need to find a face-to-face proctor.
If your are unable to select "Take Exam Via WebCam Proctor (Examity)," either (1) because it is greyed out, or (2) if you can select the webcam proctor but you do not have a stable, high speed internet connection then you are going to need to ask a qualified individual to apply to become a licensed UNCO proctor.
Inviting Someone to Complete a Proctor Application:
The proctor application process will take at least 30 days due to the extensive vetting process, which includes background checks, follow up questions, memos, etc. Therefore, if your exam is online then you should use "Take Your Exam Via WebCam Proctor (Examity)." NOTE: The webcam proctor cannot be used for paper or online+paper exams.
If you still need to invite someone to complete a proctor application...
First, review the Proctor Criteria. Some examples of potential proctors are local university/community college testing centers, U.S. embassy education officer or military base/station education officer (Cannot charge a proctoring fee), and U.S. military non-commissioned officer in charge or officer in charge of student’s military unit (Cannot charge a proctoring fee).
After you find someone who meets the Proctor Criteria, you may want to contact UNC Online to ensure the person meets the Proctor Criteria. To start the proctor application invite process, click here. NOTE: It can take at least 30 days for UNCO to review/research a new proctor application.
After sending the invitation, it is recommended you follow up with proctor applicant to confirm they received your invitation and submitted an application for review (the link to the application is included in the invitation).
You will receive a system-generated message when their application has been approved or denied.
NOTE: All proctor applicants are subject to approval. Please allow at least 30 days for UNC Online to review and process proctoring applications.
