Who should I contact if I have system questions?
The proctor (not the student) should immediately contact the instructor if the student is experiencing a technical issue with an online exam and/or if there are questions about exam instructions.
The instructor's emergency contact information is included on the proctor instruction sheet. Proctors must log into UNC Online to download the proctor instruction sheet.
Only the instructor has access to their learning management system (Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, etc...) and their exam. For example, the instructor can log into Canvas to reset their exam and/or confirm the correct exam password.
NOTE: Proctors should not share exam passwords with students.
For assistance with exam proctoring please login to UNC Online and click on "Contact" to create a ticket.
If you cannot login to UNC Online then go to the UNC Online Help Center, go to the "Proctoring" column and click on "Contact." See below screenshot.
The ticketing system will route your question to the correct contact person and will allow the entire UNC Online team to view the ticket (this is efficient when someone is out of the office).
How do I submit a ticket?
- Visit http://online.northcarolina.edu
- Click "Login" (located in the upper right corner)
- Select the appropriate category
- Enter your credentials
- Click "Contact" (located at the top of the page)

NOTE: There is not a 24 hour support line for the exam proctoring network. Tickets will be answered as soon as a staff member is available, typically within 24 hours. Typically, inquiries submitted on weekends or holidays are answered on the next business day.
If the ticketing system is not available please call +1 (844) 334-3182 for assistance.
