Am I Responsible for Exam Proctoring Fees?
Yes. If a proctor charges a fee, students are responsible for paying the fee. Students are charged for proctoring based on the total duration of the exam, and they do not receive a refund if the entire duration of the exam is not used.
NOTE: When students register for online courses, an alert about proctoring fees is posted by the campus - this is a Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) - Section 10.6 requirement. For example, ECU students see the following message when they register for online courses: There may be additional fees associated with Distance Education courses for verification of student identity for proctored examinations.
NOTE: UNC Online does not play a role in disputes with regard to fees or refunds. UNC Online does not have access to your banking information. UNC Online does not receive funding from either in-person proctoring locations or the WebCam Proctor (Examity).
